Madeira – is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-quality embroidery threads
Philosophy - If you are not constantly trying to improve, you have ceased to be good. The company pursues a philosophy based on the consistent endeavour to recognise fashion trends and styles at an early stage and react to them with confidence. This foresight enables the company to keep its finger on the pulse and make innovative fashion decisions.
History - When ‘Burkhardt & Schmidt Garnfabrik’ was founded in Freiburg in 1919, the company was able to make a name for itself early on as a producer of high-quality embroidery threads. The basis for its success was the combination of traditional values and the company founders' passion for innovation.
In 1975, ‘Burkhardt & Schmidt Garnfabrik’ was renamed Madeira. In the years that followed, the company's sales activities, which had previously focused mainly on the national market, were increasingly globalised. In recent years, considerable investments have been made in technology and sustainability at the headquarters in Freiburg, so that even today around 70% of all yarns sold can still be produced at the main factory.
Today, Madeira is one of the major players in the industry with numerous subsidiaries around the world and international sales logistics.
