For impressive internal engravings in crystal balls, precise laser focusing is essential. The xTool Internal Engraving Oil was specially developed to compensate for the optical effects caused by the spherical surface during engraving. It is suitable for internal engraving of K9 crystal balls with the xTool F2 Ultra UV and is perfectly matched to the corresponding internal engraving fixture.
For Precise Internal Engravings in Crystal Balls
Due to their curved surface, crystal balls cannot be easily engraved on the inside. The spherical shape acts like an optical lens for the laser, altering the beam path and the position of the focal point.
The Internal Engraving Oil creates a flat surface above the crystal ball. To do this, the crystal ball is completely immersed in the oil. The liquid has optical properties suitable for this application and therefore supports more consistent focusing of the UV laser.
For the application, the crystal ball should be completely covered with oil, with the oil level maintained approximately 2 mm (0.08 in) above the surface of the ball. This allows internal engraving with the xTool F2 Ultra UV to be carried out under the intended conditions.
Important: To prepare the crystal ball properly for engraving, the xTool Internal Engraving Fixture is required.
Reusable Multiple Times
The Internal Engraving Oil can be reused after application. If it becomes cloudy through repeated use, it should be replaced, as a clear liquid is important for optimal engraving results. According to the manufacturer, the oil can be cleaned with water and dishwashing liquid after use; however, no water should come into contact with the oil during the engraving process.
According to the manufacturer, the oil can be safely disposed of down the drain. xTool also recommends wearing rubber gloves when handling the oil.
